Poetry by Luise Wolf about the cultural region of South Westphalia
And they complement each other well, all the colorful smells
Come in, everyone!
There's a lot of stuff hiding behind my door!
Much more than one would expect from the outside,
for behind the door, there is a smell of flowers,
and a little bit about cars,
What can I say, industry is not silent.
But through all the scents and some stench,
Finally, culture is emerging, thank God!
And they complement each other well, all the colorful smells,
Everything here is networked, without any radio messages!
In my apartment, life is bustling
you see it climbing up behind the window, rising up,
It is 80 kilometers long, from Siegen to Hagen,
and in my apartment there are sturdy pillars that have been supporting me for 2000 years.
There is the R and the K and the P, and around it are people,
each as unique as snow -
And we need each other, are critical and proud,
You can’t take art,
like the beetle eats wood.
You could say, my apartment has beams,
that hold them together so tightly!
My apartment is colorful and smells and doesn't really fit together.
But if you look like I did, who once recognized here,
Together we form a cultural mosaic,
So shout with me out into the Republic:
Every person is an artist here in South Westphalia,
and that's what you are, unfortunately you can't paint.
The motto of the anniversary celebration for 25 Years of the Regional Cultural Program NRW on October 21, 2022, at the Historic Community Center in Velbert-Langenberg was "Forward Together." Ten selected poetry slammers from ten different cities in the individual cultural regions also followed this motto. The ten young people eloquently and emotionally described their own region as individual homes with their own charm within the shared home of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the contribution about the cultural region of South Westphalia, Luise Wolf, a native of Plettenberg, gives listeners a glimpse into her home, the cultural region of South Westphalia, "80 km across, stretching from Siegen to Hagen" with "beams that hold it together like a brick wall." Listen to what it's like to live in South Westphalia. Not everything is fine and dandy, but much is. In any case, the region is one thing: incomprehensible...
