Simple language makes it easier for everyone to understand

What is Easy Language? How can you write in Easy Language? How does Easy Speaking work? Background information, rules, and practical exercises provide a simple introduction to Easy Language. We will explore the history and significance of Easy Language. In addition to "what it is good for," we will also examine "how it is done." Examples from everyday work will be used. In the practical part, we will gain our first experience in translating and try out what it's like to speak easily.

Contents of the introductory course

  • Basics of easy and simple language: definition, rules, objectives, distinction.
  • Exercises: Writing texts in easy language.
  • Introduction to easy and simple speaking.
  • The use of images.

The Easy Language Crash Course is a joint event organized by the Service Office of the South Westphalia Cultural Region and the Bethel Easy Language Office. Speakers are Kerstin Raimann and Tobias Berger.

Participants

The target group includes full-time and freelance employees in cultural institutions, cultural mediators, cultural and museum educators, cultural and leisure guides, and cultural landscape guides from the South Westphalia region.

The number of participants is limited to 25 people!

Accessibility of the venue

  • The entrance from Bismarckstraße is at ground level; there are a few steps to reach the ground floor, but there is an elevator.
  • Wide doors to the rooms.
  • There is a barrier-free toilet.
  • Parking spaces for severely disabled people are available.
  • Hearing loops are not available. Please let us know in advance if you require hearing aids.
  • There are no tactile guidance systems.
  • Of course, our team is here to support you and will be happy to find a solution to remove any hurdles (or at least reduce them).
